FORT BELVOIR, Va - The U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences’ (ARI) talent acquisition team was named the 2024 recipient of the Science and Technology Transition Achievement award by the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Research and Technology on July 22, 2025. The award recognizes teams that have made outstanding contributions and achieved notable successes in the transition of technology to support future Army capabilities.

In 2023, the Army Recruiting Enterprise Transformation Initiatives Task Force was formed to address recruiting shortfalls by transforming the recruiting workforce. Two new talent acquisition military occupational specialties (MOS) were developed: the talent acquisition Warrant Officer and the talent acquisition specialist. The ARI team created assessment batteries for selecting personnel for these roles to support the task force’s mission.

“Recruiting is essential to meeting Army end strength and readiness goals,” said Dr. Scott Shadrick, acting director, ARI. “These new MOSs and validated assessments allow more optimal use of Army personnel and are expected to increase recruiter effectiveness while also resulting in expected cost savings.”

The award was presented to the ARI team members, Drs. Jonathan Kochert, Melissa Stuhlman, Elyssa Johnson, Alisha Ness, Krystal Roach, and Ms. Sharon Meyers by Dr. Ellen Holthoff, Deputy Director, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Research and Technology.
