YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- United States Army Garrison Yongsan Community was given the opportunity to show off their talent during Open Mic Night held here, Aug. 31. This event was hosted by BOSS (Better Opportunity for Single Soldiers) at the R&R Bar & Grill.

"Open mic night is an event where the community comes out to show their talent, whether it is singing, dancing, doing stand-up comedy, playing instruments, or reciting poetry," said Tiffany Rivera, BOSS Volunteer. Servicemembers, Families, Friends, and Korean good neighbors came out to show support for participants and even show off some of their own talents as well.

"I love Open Mic Night because it gives me the opportunity to overcome my stage fear and also allows me to recite the poetry that I wrote," Rivera said.

Open mic night gave participants the opportunity to express themselves through songs, to include "Tears in Heaven," by recording artist Eric Clapton.

"I love singing and being on stage," Andee Ancheta, a BOSS volunteer said. "It's so great to see a community come together to share their art.

Each participant was given a BOSS t-shirt for participating during the open mic night and was given a round of applause for their performance.

BOSS will be hosting a Han River Cruise costume party Sept. 22, where there will be a best dress contest, music, and a cash bar. Final day for registration for this event is Sept. 18. This is an event that you don't want to miss, so come out and enjoy this wonderful event with BOSS.
