WARRIOR BASE, South Korea - Eighth Army Command Sgt. Maj. Rodney D. Harris visited the Expert Infantry Bage test site here July 26.
The EIB test was run by the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division with Command Sgt. Maj. Raul V. Huerta and his noncommissioned officers taking the lead for the training, test certification and administration.
Huetra is the command sergeant major for the 2nd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment.
"Command Sgt. Maj. Huerta and his team are running a world class event that far exceeds the standards of our 'old school' EIB," said Harris,
The test is administered across three lanes of tactical movement by the candidates with 10 individual tasks that must be demonstrated to standard within each lane (patrol lane, urban lane and traffic control point lane).
Unlike the round robin type of Expert Infantry Badge tests where the focus was the memorization of task steps, the new test requires Soldiers to employ critical "thinking"
to successfully complete each lane.
The tasks are executed in a tactical environment under stress.
