US, Indonesian Soldiers bond during Garuda Shield Sports Day

U.S. and Indonesian Soldiers stand in formation as sports day kicks off, June 19 at the Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI-Indonesian Armed Forces) Engineer Training Center of Army Education and Training Command, Pusdikzi. The Soldiers participated in soccer, basketball and volleyball to enhance cohesion and strengthen relations between the U.S. and Indonesian Armed Forces for Garuda Shield, an annual, bilateral event designed to promote regional peace and security.

The warm up, which was led by an Indonesian Army Soldier, showed the U.S. Soldiers a piece of Indonesian Army culture. Throughout the day, Soldiers participated in soccer, basketball and volleyball to enhance cohesion and strengthen relations between the U.S. and Indonesian Armed Forces as part of Garuda Shield, an annual, bilateral exercise.
