FORT BRAGG, N.C. (Nov. 2, 2010) -- Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Schultz, the command sergeant major for the Office of the Chief, Army Reserve (OCAR), and the U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC), visited the USARC Forward operations here today to spend time with enlisted members of the USARC Advanced Echelon (ADVON) and see how construction on the new U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) and USARC combined headquarters complex is progressing.

Schultz first had lunch with USARC Forward senior enlisted Soldiers at the McKellar's Lodge (Rod and Gun Club) on post.

Afterwards, they gathered in a private room at the lodge, where Schultz updated them on upcoming Army-wide and Army Reserve-specific changes, challenges and issues that may affect them and the Soldiers they support.

He thanked them for setting the conditions for a seamless transition of USARC operations from Fort McPherson, Ga., to Fort Bragg, N.C.

"You're doing a great job preparing for the large influx of new and transferred personnel who will be arriving in the first half of 2011," he said. "You are true leaders."

USARC will move to Fort Bragg, in accordance with the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure legislation, which directed its current home, Fort McPherson, Ga., to close not later than Sept. 15, 2011.

Schultz next met with Ted Kientz, the FORSCOM Liaison Team leader, for a lay-down on the progress of the construction of the new headquarters. Schultz, who had last visited the site in April, was very pleased to see the progress that been made.

He then toured the renovated Bowley School, where members of the USARC and FORSCOM ADVON are currently working, until the new headquarters is ready for occupation in the summer of 2011.
