FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – The 101st Combat Aviation Brigade held a color casing ceremony at one of its aircraft hangars Jan. 13 ahead of its upcoming deployment to the Middle East.
During the event, the command praised the Soldiers for their attention to detail during a rigorous train up period and cased their brigade colors and battalion guidons in front of an audience of Soldiers, family members, and guests.
“As we case these colors tonight, let them symbolize our unity, our preparedness, and our unshakeable determination. When these colors are unfurled in the theater of operations, they will serve as a beacon – a testament to the courage, character, and professionalism of this Brigade,” said Col. Tyler Partridge, commanding officer of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade.
The upcoming deployment to the Middle East is in support of Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve. The task force’s mission is to advise, assist, and enable partner forces until they can independently defeat Daesh in designated areas of Iraq and Syria, in order to set conditions for long-term security cooperation framework.
Many Soldiers, including 1st Lt. Courtney Huhta, are looking forward to the deployment. She said she's excited about going on her first deployment, representing the unit, and working in a new country.
The 101st Combat Aviation Brigade provides aerial lift, aerial attack, aerial reconnaissance, and aerial medical evacuation capabilities to the 25,000 “Screaming Eagle” Soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and partner forces to execute combat or contingency missions anywhere in the world.
