4th Infantry Division armored brigade wins electronic warfare excellence award

National Harbor, Md. — The 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division was recognized for cyber-electronic activities excellence by the Association of Old Crows at the 2023 Annual International Symposium.

The brigade CEMA section set the standard by conducting high-quality Electronic Warfare training at their home station, Fort Carson, Colo., as well as during a rotation at the National Training Center and deployment to Europe.

They supported several joint and multi-national exercises while deployed to Europe, demonstrating the importance of CEMA in support of targeting and Multi-Domain Operations.

They were also the first EW team in 4th Inf. Div. to execute the EW Training Strategy evaluation, paving the way for the rest of the division.

Each year, the AOC, a global organization of professionals specializing in Information and Electronic Warfare, recognizes units of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, Space Force and International Forces for outstanding performance in operational environments, including joint service, and in advancing or exemplifying the discipline of EW.

This year, 3rd Bde., 4th Inf. Div. was one of two Army units recognized by the AOC for their achievements and outstanding performance.

The following members of the 3rd Bde., 4th Inf. Div., CEMA section received the award on behalf of the brigade:

  • Capt. David Moore, brigade CEMA Chief
  • Capt. Anika Tolentinoguzman, EW Platoon Leader
  • Chief Warrant Officer 2 Luis Alice, brigade CEMA Technician
  • Sgt. 1st Class Jacob Peck, bridade CEMA NCOIC

The theme of this year’s conference was Advancing EMS Superiority Through Strategic Alliances and Partnerships had over 2,000 attendees from more than 30 countries with several distinguished guests, including the Honorable Carlos Del Toro, Secretary of the Navy; Lt. Gen. Matthew Glavy, Deputy Commandant for Information, U.S. Marine Corps; Rear Adm. Darryl Walker, Deputy to the Commander, Joint Force Headquarters-Cyber (Navy); Vice Adm. Stephen Koehler, Director for Strategy, Plans and Policy, J5, Joint Staff; Vice Adm. Francis Morley, Principal Military Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition); and Lt. Gen. (ret.) Lance Landrum, former 23rd Deputy Chair of The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Military Committee.

Two guest speakers from the Ukrainian armed forces provided updates on the importance of the electromagnetic spectrum operations in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
