FORT MAGSAYSAY, Philippines – The U.S. Army’s 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (2IBCT), 25th Infantry Division, along with the Philippine Army (PA), will hold an opening ceremony for exercise Salaknib 2023 (SN23), March 13 at the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 7th Infantry Division, (PA) covered court on Fort Magsaysay.

The ceremony will include remarks from Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr, Commanding General of the Philippine Army, and U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Xavier T. Brunson, Commanding General of I Corp.

The U.S. and Philippines armies started hosting the training exercise in 2016. This year, SN23 will take place March 13 through April 4, and will enhance military readiness, strengthen relationships, and increase interoperability between the U.S. Army’s 25th Infantry Division (25ID) and our PA allies.

Commander of 2IBCT, Col. Graham White says the “Warrior Brigade” and 25th Infantry Division are honored to have the opportunity to participate in Salaknib 23 alongside our Filipino allies.

“Like all Operation Pathways exercises, Salaknib is vital for building joint readiness and increasing interoperability with our regional allies and partners. Exercises like this one increases our collective confidence in each other and strengthen our combined effectiveness. The idea is to be ready, so we never have to get ready,” White said.

This year’s exercise includes multiple small-arms and maneuver live fire exercises (LFX), jungle training events, artillery and mortar LFX events, and several engineering and construction projects.

The opening ceremony is open to media. Media wishing to attend should contact Capt. Lasay at staceylasaypao@gmail.com no later than 12 March, 2023.
