FORT STEWART, Ga. The Soldiers of the 3rd Sustainment Brigade and their Families enjoyed a day of fun and esprit de corps during their Organizational Day at Newman Gym on Fort Stewart July 24.

Each battalion within the brigade competed against each other in softball, basketball, volleyball, horse-shoes, tug-of-war, and flag football in hopes of taking home the Commander's Cup.

The Special Troops Battalion took home the trophy for the softball tournament, while the 87th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion won the volleyball tournament.

The 260th Quartermaster Battalion won both the horseshoe competition as well as the basketball tournament, but winning the most points of the day was the 13th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion from Fort Benning, Ga.

They won the tug-of-war competition as well as the flag football tournament and placed high in all of the other events.

Other activities included dominoes, spades, ping pong, jumping castles for the children, sack races and a "by donation" dunk tank where Soldiers could nominate a Soldier, a noncommissioned officer or officer to sit on the platform and risk taking a swim.

Soldiers were also treated to hamburgers, hotdogs, ribs and other barbequed foods throughout the day. The Corkan Family Fun Center opened its doors to Soldiers and Family members.

Soldiers who completed hurricane information sheets were also given a ticket that could earn them door prizes.

Private 1st Class Lilliana Martinez, 104th Transportation Company, 13th CSSB, also won a free ticket to see comedian Mike Epps for being the youngest Soldier in the brigade.

"There was something for everyone to enjoy," said Pfc. Kelly Malone, an STB Soldier.

"They even had a giant inflatable waterslide for the kids here. That looked like a lot of fun."

The objective of the organizational day was accomplished, said Master Sgt. Frank McQueen, 3rd Sustainment Bde. S3.

Soon the kids will head back to school and summer will be over.

This gave everyone a chance to relax and have some fun, he said.

"I'm glad that the brigade does these sorts of things for us," said Pfc. Malone.

"It really gave us all a chance to bond and have a little bit of fun. I can't wait for the next one."
