The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, or DEVCOM, will host a booth and participate in the virtual Women of Color career fair on October 9. The career fair is part of the WOC STEM conference, which will be held October 7-9.

“The Women of Color STEM conference attracts and leverages exceptional talent within the nation's scientific and technical workforce. This year WOC is celebrating 25 years of providing opportunities to assist ambitious women (and men) in reaching their STEM career goals. DEVCOM’s engagement in events like the WOC conference positions us to more purposefully approach recruiting and supporting a diverse candidate pool while strengthening our talent pipeline,” said Deborah Dawson, DEVCOM Human Resources Director.

Recruiters and hiring managers from DEVCOM’s eight centers and lab will interview prospective candidates during the career fair. The event supports several efforts in DEVCOM’s Campaign Plan – to recruit, train and maintain a diverse and highly skilled workforce, and to create awareness of the command.

The event also aligns with DEVCOM’s Future of Work program, which supports attracting and retaining ‘the best talent anywhere’ and forming geographically dispersed, cross-competency/cross-organization teams that support DEVCOM’s mission to rapidly deliver integrated solutions. The future of work program also embraces remote work, flexible work schedules and innovative hiring practices.

The theme for this year’s WOC STEM digital conference is Reset to Rise: It’s a New Day! The event will be held on the Vfairs platform, which features a live chat tool including text, audio and video that enables group chats as well as one-on-one chats with promising applicants. Prospective candidates will use the Yello App to register and add their resumes, which DEVCOM recruiters and hiring managers will use when they interview the candidates.
