"I wanted something different. I wanted to branch out and do something more exciting. Being a drill sergeant was definitely something new and exciting. (Participating in the Bataan Memorial Death March on March 17) was definitely a gut check. My goal was honestly just to beat my time from last year and then hang out with awesome drill sergeants. It really is a good event for building camaraderie and esprit de corps. I got to like mile 10 (of 26.2) and I was not sore. I was not injured. I was at like a 9:15 pace. I thought, I can easily finish this in less than 5 hours. So that was my new goal. I finished in 4:54:00 and set the record for female finishers in the Military Individual, Light Division. I was super, super excited about that. My unit has been really supportive of me. This is the best unit I've ever been in. We have the best leadership here."
