CSM John D. Tanchak


CSM John D. Tanchak enlisted in the Army in 1998. He attended Basic and Advanced Individual Training for the Military Occupational Specialty of 56M, chaplain assistant, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. CSM Tanchak has held many leadership positions from squad leader to first sergeant.

CSM Tanchak's assignments include: chapel NCOIC for HQ CO, HQ CMD, Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, GA; chaplain assistant NCO and squad leader for the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment; Brigade Unit Ministry Team NCOIC for 1st Brigade, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Bragg, NC; Brigade Unit Ministry Team NCOIC, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade; Unit Ministry Team NCOIC, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment; Unit Ministry Team NCOIC, Tier 1 Special Mission Unit and First Sergeant for HHD, 1st Army, Division East. He has multiple deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Kuwait.

CSM Tanchak's military and civilian education include: Combat Life Saver Course, Basic Leader Course, Applied Suicide Prevention Trainer Course, Airborne School, Advance Leader Course, Air Assault School, Unit Victim Advocate Course, Combative Level 1, Special Operations Training Course, Battle Staff Course, Senior Leader Course, Emergence Medical Ministry Course, SERE High Risk, SERE 215/245, Jumpmaster Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, and class 66 United States Army Sergeants Major Course. He has an Associate of Arts Degree from Campbell University, Fayetteville, NC; Bachelors of Business Administration and a Master of Science from Grantham University, St. Louis, MO.
