Guests at Yeomans Hall on Fort Knox can now enjoy newly renovated rooms when staying in the historic building.
The renovations were completed by Privati-zation of Army Lodging developer Lendlease and hotel operator InterContinental Hotels Group. Lacey Jameson, Marketing Coordinator for Lendlease, said the renovations were completed in two phases. Phase one was completed last May and phase two renovations were completed last Decem-ber, she said.
Interior renovations for phase one included new furniture fixtures and equipment; fresh paint on all walls and trim; restored original hardwood floors; an updated kitchen prep area; a fitness room; attic insulation; new shower doors; new
lighting; the re-wiring of electrical components in guest rooms; new mech- anical ventilation; and a new hot water source.
On the exterior of the building, phase one renovations included roof repairs with period-appropriate clay tiles; painting of all trim cornicing and soffits; pressure washing of the building and concrete flatwork; installation of new copper gutters and downspouts; the addition of code-compliant stairwell handrails; stripping and painting stairwell walls; new landscaping; and the stripping and painting of all handrails.
Phase two included remodeling the first floor east side and converting it into two additional distinguished visitor quarters suites and one four-star general's apartment. Jameson said the general's apartment will be a two-bedroom, 1,100- square-foot apartment with a full kitchen, dining area, living room area and upgraded finishes.
Yeomans Hall was originally built in 1935 and has been used as the Bachelor Officers' Quarters. The building has also been home to an accounting office and a post protocol office. A barber shop is currently located in the building, but is not overseen by Lendlease, Jameson said.
The renovations are part of IHG's Group Historia Collection, which provides updated lodging facilities on Army installations throughout the United States.
"Lendlease renovated the hotel to its original grandeur to help reflect Fort Knox's significant past," Jameson said. "Preserving the quality and unique attributes of the building was important throughout the renovation."
