SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - Pacific wounded soldiers and veterans participate in the sitting volleyball scrimmage during Pacific Regional Trials 2017, held at Martinez Gym, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Nov. 9, 2017. Sitting volleyball is a team building activity and a popular sport included in the Army Warrior Care and Transition Adaptive Sports Program. Adaptive sports play an important role in the recovery and transition process that wounded, ill, and injured soldiers may participate in. Wounded warrior athletes may have to change the way they play sports, but the competing athletes are resilient and team players, capable of overcoming any challenge.
