WIESBADEN, Germany-- Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, commander, U.S. Army Europe, hosted Maj. Gen. Leonids Kalnins, Latvian Chief of Defense; Hon. Raimonds Bergmanis, Latvian Minister of Defense and Nancy Pettit, the U.S. Ambassador to Latvia, Mar. 16-17.

The two-day visit focused on the reaffirmation of the U.S. Army Europe-Latvia relationship; security operations; regional security in the Baltics and Latvian troops participating in Exercise Allied Spirit VI. Approximately 2,770 participants from 12 nations will participate in Exercise Allied Spirit VI at the 7th Army Training Command's Hohenfels Training Area in southeastern Germany, March 8-31. In this exercise, Latvia will command the brigade headquarters.
