ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- "Lives depend on what we produce on a daily basis. We must be efficient, effective, and at the best value in all that we do. Everybody depends on us to get it right," said Brig. Gen. Richard B. Dix at the Joint Munitions Command (JMC) Town Hall held on February 16 at JMC Headquarters. "When they pull the trigger, it's got to work the first time. Every time."

Throughout the town hall, Dix emphasized how JMC's readiness directly impacts the Warfighters' readiness. He highlighted how JMC's strategic priorities are nested with the strategic priorities of the Chief of Staff of the Army and the Army Materiel Command.

Focusing on readiness within JMC's ranks is critical. "We've got to be prepared, because if we have a bad day at JMC, all of our troops who go to help… become tourists if they don't have their ammo," said Dix. "You are pivotal and key to security."

Another key component of readiness is audit readiness which a priority across the AMC enterprise. Dix highlighted the need for all JMC employees to continue to be "good stewards of taxpayer dollars" by documenting, to audit-ready standards, how they are getting JMC's crucial mission done. If you're not auditable, you may be inefficient, you may cost too much, and you're probably not doing your job, said Dix.

To increase efficiencies, JMC's command team and directors took part in a Leadership Off-Site in January to "clarify and identify roles and responsibilities." The new organizational-level leadership teams "allow our directors to be directors, to lead, and to manage the workforce."

Dix went on to explain how opening up communication channels will aid action officers: "You will be allowed to do your job and provide analysis and recommendations that will flow up to the leadership. This will streamline our decision-making process. This empowers you to do your jobs."
