By Christopher J. WarnerFebruary 13, 2017

Cadre from 2nd Squadron, 16th Cavalry Regiment, Armor Basic Officer Leader Course (ABOLC) teach 2nd Lieutenants tank skills that will be needed once they take command as platoon leaders at their unit after graduation. The students learn how to bore sight the 120 mm main gun, the 7.62 coax machine gun, and the .50 caliber heavy machine gun in order to conduct the live fire portion of the training.

The students take turns being the gunner and the tank commander while an ABOLC Instructor observes and mentors them from inside the turret. Each positions allows them to practice giving fire commands and engage stationary targets using the main gun and machine guns.

The skills they learned will be vital during the final gunnery and Combined Competitive Maneuver Exercise that they will participate in with students from the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course (IBOLC). (Video by Fort Benning TV)
