ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- U.S. Army Sustainment Command personnel welcomed K Krewer, the new chief counsel of the U.S. Army Materiel Command Legal Center, back to the Quad Cities, here, July 20.

In her new position, Krewer is responsible for lawyers supporting ASC, the Joint Munitions Command, the Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center, the Army Contracting Command-Rock Island, and other AMC entities on Rock Island Arsenal.

"I have the greatest job in the world," said Krewer. "I have a client -- the Army -- that once in a while maybe doesn't do the smartest thing, but that always, always tries to do the right thing. There are not a lot of lawyers who can say that about their clients."

Krewer promised to work hard in her new position, and to maintain the office's tradition of excellence.

"The commitment that this legal office has had to excellence, to getting the right answer and to getting the workable solution, that will never change," she said. "I pledge to you to continue that throughout however many years I have left here."

Krewer moved from Alabama, where she served as the deputy command counsel for the U.S. Army Materiel Command at Redstone Arsenal. Originally from Blue Grass, Iowa, Krewer previously spent more than 30 years working as a lawyer at various RIA commands.

"We're welcoming you back home, and we're really glad you are back on the team here," said Maj. Gen. Kevin O'Connell, commanding general, ASC.

She became a member of the Senior Executive Service in 2011 when she was the chief counsel for the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command in Warren, Michigan. She described her leadership style as collaborative, with a strong emphasis on empowerment and mentoring.

Krewer has an extensive education, including a master's degree in strategic studies from the Army War College, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa.

Some of Krewer's hobbies include Civil War re-enactments, mid-19th century clothing, singing, and horses.
