FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. -- The 922nd Contracting Battalion cased its colors here Feb. 10 in preparation for an upcoming deployment to Iraq.

Under the unit leadership of Lt. Col. Robert L. McDonald Jr., battalion commander, and battalion Sgt. Maj. Andrea Dailey, the flag was cased before family, friends, and other unit members. Guests included Brig. Gen. Michael D. Hoskin, U.S. Army Expeditionary Contracting Command commanding general; Command Sgt. Maj. David M. Puig, Army Contracting Command; and Command Sgt. Maj Tomeka N. O'Neal, Mission and Installation Contracting Command.

The 922nd CBn, comprised of approximately 25 Soldiers and 25 civilians, will deploy a portion of the unit to Iraq within the next few weeks. About a dozen members are set to deploy, including three who were recently part of the deployment to combat Ebola in Liberia in the fall of 2014.

McDonald, who is one of those three, says the group is ready again.

"We have trained hard and stand ready, capable and confident for this mission," he said.

Col. Carol Tschida, 419th Contracting Support Brigade commander, echoed the thought that this group was a strong one.

"You are a front-runner among almost 40 MICC offices and have established a rapport here for us at Fort Campbell. You are prepared and ready for all that awaits you as you deploy," Tschida said.

The battalion will be supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
