Baumholder based 5-7 ADA Soldier dies in vehicle accident

BAUMHOLDER, Germany (October 30, 2015) -- A 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command Soldier assigned to 5th Battalion 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, died near Baumholder, Germany, Oct. 29. U.S. Army Sgt. Marvin L. Barbour, 39, was pronounced dead at the hospital from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.

He was assigned to Headquarters Battery, 5-7 ADA, as a Supply Accounting Supervisor.

Originally from Halifax, VA., Barbour joined the Army in 2003.

His previous assignments include Ft. Polk and Ft. Bragg. He also had multiple deployments, including two to Afghanistan and two to Iraq. His awards include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal and the NATO Medal.

He is survived by his wife and three children.

A memorial ceremony is scheduled to be held Nov. 5 in Baumholder, Germany.

No other details are available at this time. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
