ONTARIO, Calif. -- Weed Army Community Hospital Soldiers (WACH) turned out for the Seventh Annual Pull for Our Heroes plane-pull competition October 23 at Ontario Airport Terminal Tarmac 1.

The unusual plane-pull sporting event pits teams of 20 men and women against a 120,000 pound 727 plane. Competitors must quickly pull the plane 25 feet. The competition and event, which featured a live jazz band, speeches and exhibitor booths benefits the Bob Hope USO Ontario office located in Terminal 1 at Ontario International Airport.

Personnel assigned to Fort Irwin in the Mojave desert as well as those assigned to the Marine Corps Logistic Base, Barstow, regularly fly into the Ontario Airport (though 180 miles from post, it is still the closest commercial airport available to Fort Irwin incoming personnel) and the USO office is a great assistance to traveling service members, family members and civilians on their way to the garrison.
