Columbus Day commemorates the spirit of discovery and exploration that led to the creation of our Great Nation -- the United States of America. In honor of this historic event, we take time to reflect on Christopher Columbus' great achievements and his quest for knowledge. He and his crew navigated uncharted waters and accomplished the impossible.

This spirit of discovery is also alive within USASMDC/ARSTRAT. The team has accomplished so much and continues to push the envelope -- bringing to bear the latest Space and Missile Defense technologies. You continue to provide superb training and overall support to the Warfighter, helping to secure our Nation and protect our Soldiers, Civilians, and Allies abroad.

During this Columbus Day weekend enjoy yourself and your loved ones, and as always, keep safety at the forefront. Remember that the greatest risk many of us face remains POV accidents. Too many Soldiers, Civilians, and Family members are lost each year in vehicle accidents. It only takes one momentary lapse of judgment to result in a serious accident.

Every member of the USASMDC/ARSTRAT team is highly valued and cherished. We cannot complete our mission without you. CSM Wiggins and I thank each and every one of you for your dedicated service and commitment to the team. Enjoy this well-deserved time with your loved ones, and have a safe Columbus Day weekend.

SECURE THE HIGH GROUND!
