Fort Huachuca, Arizona - Currently, Fort Huachuca's Main Post Chapel offers several religious programs for youth of all ages. Programs offer activities, events and bible studies.

Awana, or Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, is a children's ministry club that provides youth from 2 -- 3 though high school age with scripture memorization and group projects. This youth group meets at the Main Post Chapel at 3 p.m. the first week of September through May 10.

Another youth group that meets every Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. is Kidz Church, a children's ministry that teaches lessons, music and more.

During the week, on Wednesdays, Club Beyond Student Ministries gathers and participates in events and weekly discussions at the old Colonel Johnston Elementary School. Middle school (sixth through eighth grade) and high school (ninth through 12th grade) students meet in Room 212 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Dinner is served for all who are there at 6:30 p.m.

Upcoming youth events include an Easter egg hunt which will take place on Sunday in the courtyard of the Main Post Chapel. This activity starts at 10:30 a.m. Young children through age 8 are encouraged to participate.

On April 17 and 18, the Main Post Chapel will be hosting an event titled "Walk Thru the New Testament," an event which interactively allows families and youth (first grade and up) to learn, and understand 77 people, places and events from the New Testament. The event on April 17 runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m., and on Saturday, it begins at 9 a.m. and goes through noon. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday. Watch care will be provided for children 6 months to 5.

Other events which will take place when school is out of session include Vacation Bible School for kindergarteners through fifth grade and Club Beyond Youth Camp for junior high and high school students. Vacation Bible School features activities and events that run July 13 through 17 at the Main Post Chapel from 9 a.m. until noon. Registration for this event begins in May.

Club Beyond's Youth Camp starts the last week in July. According to Fred Robinson, Fort Huachuca's director of Religious Education, a scholarship may awarded to military students interested in coming on the trip at no cost.

Robinson said, "Volunteers in upcoming events and youth clubs are always encouraged. Help is always greatly appreciated."
