Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) was honored to have the Army Chief of Staff's spouse, Mrs. Linda Odierno, visit the facility on Feb. 11, 2015.
Odierno is visiting the island alongside her husband, Gen. Raymond Odierno, Army Chief of Staff, who is in the region to visit troops, get briefs, and talk with Soldiers about Army programs and drawdown.
Odierno's visit to TAMC was focused on special programs and valued services that TAMC provides, such as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Behavioral Health.
She visited the Human Animal Bond (HAB) Program, where she was able to meet with the dogs as well as their handlers and learned how the presence of the animals benefits the patients.
Next she stopped by TAMC Behavioral Health where she was given a tour of the clinic and information on the services offered.
Her final stop was at the NICU where she was briefed on the procedures of the unit and given a tour of the facility that included demonstrations on how the families and babies are cared for.
"I think it's wonderful that she has come down to take a look at our clinic and I know her to have a great deal of interest in what we are able to provide for families of service members, especially their children, that's a point very near and dear to her heart," stated Dr. Stan Wisset, Acting Chief of the Child and Family Behavioral Health Service, TAMC.
Before departing the hospital, Odierno, along with the TAMC Command, stopped by the third floor Commander's Lanai for one last group photo.
"Mrs. Odierno's visit to Tripler yesterday really serves to emphasize the importance of the role that Tripler staff plays in the Army's mission in the Pacific caring for our service members, their families and veterans. For her to make time in her schedule to visit our staff highlights the strategic value the Chief of Staff of the Army places on our facility and the staff did a fantastic job showcasing their areas," stated Col. David Dunning, Commander, TAMC.
