The day began with a morning welcome briefing by Command Sgt. Maj. Scott C. Schroeder, FORSCOM's command sergeant major and then the competitors were thrown right into the competition; an essay contest, followed by a written exam. Day 1 ended with an ice-breaker where the competitors were able to relax and socialize before four more days of challenging events.
Day 2 began early for the competitors who conducted a land navigation course before sunrise, followed by Soldier Warrior Skill Training Lanes, zeroing their M4 rifles, and a Leader Reaction Course.
The competition continues through Thursday and winners will be announced Thursday evening. Each winner will move on later in the year to compete for the title of Department of the Army Soldier and NCO of the Year.
