REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala.-Soldiers from around the globe will compete here June 23-25 during the U.S. Army Contracting Command's Best Warrior Competition 2014.
According to ACC's Command Sgt. Maj. David M. Puig, the competition gives special recognition to the ACC noncommissioned officers who have demonstrated outstanding military performance, leadership and achievement in their daily duties.
"It's going to be a tough competition that will challenge each of them mentally and physically," he said. "I am excited and looking forward to seeing them go through the various events we have planned for them."
The competitors will take a physical fitness test and participate in warrior task drills, weapon's qualification, a road march and and appear in front of a board of senior NCOs.
Other local U.S. Army Materiel Command units will also have Soldiers using the competition course to help fine tune their skills as well.
"The AMC command sergeant major (Command Sgt. Maj. James K. Sims) realized that the ACC competition has been a high-quality, first class event and that anyone participating in it will walk away a better Soldier," Puig said.
The ACC winner will represent the command at the AMC competition July 27-31 at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.
"Any NCO who competes next week has the ability to represent not just ACC, but AMC at the DA Level. I know the high caliber of NCOs in this command and am very confident in them," Puig said. "Winning a Best Warrior competition provides an NCO with huge bragging rights. It's a great opportunity"
