REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- The U.S. Army Materiel Command and the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command collaborated to host a Ready and Resilient Wellness Fair at the headquarters here, April 17.

"It's great that we can partner with our friends at USASAC and bring the fair to where we can give the maximum impact to our employees," said Anthony Arcuri, director of the Business and Wellness division.

USASAC employees kicked off the event with a free "Heart Healthy Breakfast," exposing employees to better options for breakfast.

Personnel had the opportunity to tour more than 20 vendors offering blood pressure screenings, bone density screenings, grip strength assessments, vision screenings, hormone balancing, fitness opportunities and more.

AMC Fitness and Resiliency coordinators Robin Warren and Valerie Francis planned for several months to bring the wellness fair to the AMC and USASAC complex.

"For this particular event, we had vendors call us to participate. The Huntsville and Madison community really wants to be a part of and support AMC and Redstone Arsenal through partnership," said Francis.

According to Warren, about 700 employees visited the event making it the most successful health fair on the campus to date.

"The Ready and Resilient Wellness Fair is about awareness and motivating workers to enhance their health," Warren said. "We are a very sedentary workforce. It's important to stress exercise, eating right and getting away from your desk at lunch, and the versatility of the vendors here helps us send that message home, instead of the workforce hearing it from the same place."

Many of the vendors expressed that this was the best wellness fair they've participated in.

"This was an incredible wellness fair. The culture here is different because the employees here are knowledgeable and nutritionally aware," said Debbi Walton, certified fitness trainer and vendor.

Warren said that knowing this is what really excites her -- to know that the workforce is receiving the message of wellness that her division promotes daily.
