VILSECK, Germany -- Sixty-five participants dared to show up for the Commanders' Challenge, a three-shooting position air rifle match hosted by Vilseck High School's 18th JROTC Battalion Marksmanship Team.

All but the hosts left empty handed.

The 18 teams from across the U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria community competed for bragging rights, but the closest they came was 300 points below the marksmanship team.

In addition to fostering camaraderie, the event raised $1,200; half will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Trophies for the top three finishers will be awarded at the annual JROTC Ball, March 8.
