Storck Barracks hosts 'Color Run for Prevention'

STORCK BARRACKS, Germany (July 25, 2013) -- U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach's Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Sports & Fitness hosted the five-kilometer Color Run for Prevention at Storck Barracks July 20. Hundreds of members from the USAG Ansbach community participated in the event, including Soldiers, family members, U.S. civilians and local nationals, and even a few pets.

Starting and ending at Storck Fitness Center, the no-cost 5K helped raise awareness for a variety of causes each represented by a color, including the prevention of child abuse (blue), breast cancer (red), suicide (yellow) and domestic violence (purple). As participants passed stations throughout the run, volunteers were on hand to spray the runners with colors representing the causes.

Every runner had three things in common: They arrived in white shirts, they used their own time and effort for a good cause, and they left with a lot more color than when they arrived -- wearing the colors like badges of honor.
