YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan held the ROK Armed Forces Day Commemorative Luncheon and Best Friends Award ceremony to pay tribute for the hard-work of Korean and U.S. Servicemembers here, Oct. 12.
The awardees were given recognition for their hard-work and partnership with each other and also for their contribution to the enhancement of ROK-US alliance and KATUSA program.
"Today, ceremony is a way for us to thank all of these Service members for their sacrifice and allowing our two countries to world together to change global challenges," said Col. Michael E. Masley, garrison commander of USAG Yongsan. "Without their enthusiasm, dedication, and hard-work our KATUSA and U.S. Soldier partnership would not be as successful today."
Several Servicemembers were awarded for volunteering their services to the Yongan community.
"I appreciate having this great opportunity to be able to work hand and hand with the KATUSA Soldiers," said Cpl. Ched Kibler, Orderly Room NCOIC for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, USAG Yongsan.
During this event, many Servicemembers who had lost their lives were paid tribute to with a moment of silence for the sacrifice of their lives to protect this nation and the value of democracy.
"It is an honor to recognize the many Servicemembers for their contributions and assistance in their support with helping the community," said Lt. Col. Park, Ju Hyun, commander of the Area II ROK Army Support Group.
