Soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) run with "Teddy" Roosevelt, one of the National's Racing Presidents Sept. 25, 2012 at Fort Lesley J. McNair. The Racing Presidents perform during the National's baseball games as well as at various community relations events for the team. To date, Teddy hasn't won a race! Abe Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are all almost tied in the Racing President's standings, but Teddy is dead last. Normally, the mission of the the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) is to conduct memorial affairs to honor fallen comrades as well as perform ceremonies and special events to represent the Army, but recently, they have been working with Teddy on his running time in the hopes of improving the Racing President's standing. The Nationals play the Phillies at Washington Nationals Park Oct. 1.
