REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. - A suite of videoteleconference rooms were dedicated and renamed for a former U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command commanding general in a ceremony at the command's Redstone Arsenal headquarters Aug. 17.

Retired Lt. Gen. John "Jack" Costello, who commanded SMDC from 1998-2001, passed away in December 2010. He is credited with being a strong and early supporter of videoteleconference technology.

Costello's wife, Micki, his son, Lt. Col. Patrick Costello, and his wife, Rachel, as well as numerous former employees and friends joined the command in the dedication of the rooms. About 100 guests and employees stood shoulder-to-shoulder to attend the event.
