Alan Jackson concert June 30

FORT SILL, Okla.-- It's not too late to get your tickets for the 2012 Army Concert Tour, featuring award winning country music star Alan Jackson with special guests Gloriana and Easton Corbin June 30.

The concert begins the Fort Sill Independence Day celebration June 30 at Polo Field. The show ends with a fireworks display.

Army G-1's Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Prevention Program, or SHARP, is the national sponsor for the 2012 Army Concert Tour.

Concert tickets

The concert is open to the public and advance tickets to the show are available now until June 30 until 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at area EZ Go stores, both Adventure Travel locations in the Welcome Center on Fort Sill and downtown in the mall, and at Lawton and Duncan Crutcher's Western Wear locations. They can also be purchased online at www.sillmwr.com until June 29 at midnight or by calling 800-999-2987. Advanced ticket price is $30; tickets at the gate are $35, and children 6 and under are free.

Michele Flanagan, Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation marketing director, said all ticket outlets are open June 30.

"After 2 p.m. concert-goers can still get their tickets at the gate," she said. "Those people with will-call tickets can pick them up at either gate."

Getting to the concert

For all general admission ticket holders, parking is on Conklin Field, located south of Polo Field. Drivers should enter post through Gate 2, off Rogers Lane, to access general admission parking. Gate 2 opens June 30 at 1 p.m. Conklin Field holds around 4,000 vehicles for parking.

Concert-goers should plan on wearing comfortable shoes because there is a little bit of a walk from the parking area to the concert venue.

Lt. Billy Allen, Fort Sill Police Department, said those people parking on Conklin Field will have to walk from the field, through a low-water crossing to get to the concert venue.

Allen said Key Gate, off I-44 closes June 30 at noon.

"There will be no entry or exit from the east or west Key Gate after noon. Premium VIP parking is at the Field Artillery Museum across Sheridan Road from Polo Field. Handicapped parking is next to the Polo Club. Drivers can enter post from Scott Gate (Fort Sill Boulevard), Apache Gate (Highway 49) or Bentley Gate on Sheridan Road. All traffic exiting the concert will go through Gate 2 or Scott Gate," he said. "We will have a parking detail in the parking areas to direct traffic to the parking areas."

Allen said all bags, backpacks, folding chairs and like items will be checked by military police personnel at event entry points.

There will be two holding areas at both the north and south gate entry points with a live radio remote at the south holding area, and food and beverages.

Concert-goers can start entering post and parking for the show after 2 p.m. when the holding areas open.

"We want to ensure all attendees have time to get in the venue in a timely manner so we'll open the holding areas at 2 p.m. to get them in, banded and through the gate," said Flanagan.

Some of the things attendees should plan on bringing include folding chairs or a blanket to sit on and sun screen. No cameras and/or recording equipment, pets, glass or weapons, including small knives and leatherman tools, are allowed in the venue.

Coolers and similar containers are not allowed, but refreshments will be available at various concession locations.

Public consumption of alcoholic beverages is restricted to the concert area only. Beer will be served only to patrons displaying an alcohol wristband. Wristbands are available at no charge at the concert entry gates.

Single Soldier Shuttle

For those single Soldiers who live in on-post barracks, the Directorate of Logistics will provide a shuttle service from three areas to the venue and back to barracks after the show. The shuttles run from 5 p.m. to midnight to drop-off and pickup single Soldiers at the corner of Gruber and Sheridan roads near Polo Field. There will be several buses running throughout the event with pickup and drop-off points at buildings 900, 1602/1603; and Building 3426 in the 3400 area.

The show

The concert opens at 7 p.m. with the up and coming trio Gloriana. Gloriana is a relatively new trio with brothers Tom and Mike Gossin and Rachel Reinert who released their debut album in 2009 and went on to become the best-selling debut country act of 2009. Gloriana debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and No. 3 on the Top 200 chart. The hit single from that album, "Wild At Heart," became a gold-certified hit single. The band went on to win the fan-voted-on American Music Award for Breakthrough Artist and the "Nationwide On Your Side" honor at the Country Music Television Awards.

In 2010, Gloriana won the Academy of Country Music's Award for Top New Vocal Group and were nominated for a Teen Choice Award for "Choice Country Group."

The group's second album, "A Thousand Miles Left Behind," is due for release in July. The first single off the album "Kissed You Good Night," is climbing the country charts, while its accompanying video (starring Megan Park and Tyler Hilton) had its premier on ABC Family in January.

After Gloriana, Easton Corbin takes the stage. He is the first country male artist in 17 years to have his first two consecutive singles reach No. 1 -- "A Little More Country Than That," and "Roll With It."

Mercury Nashville recording artist Corbin is being lauded for his traditional country sound, authentic lyrics and mastery of understatement. USA Today said Corbin "is a country music throwback with an easygoing, old-school style."

Corbin received 13 country music award nominations and won three country music trophies in a six-month period. He said he is looking forward to celebrating the Independence Day weekend with Lawton - Fort Sill.

The accolades have been rolling in for Corbin. Most recently, he received three nominations from the Academy of Country Music Awards Top New Solo Vocalist as well as Single and Song of the Year for his debut hit, "A Little More Country Than That."

He won 2010 American Country Awards in Artist of the Year: Breakthrough Artist; Single of the Year: Breakthrough Artist; and Music Video: Breakthrough Artist for "A Little More Country Than That."

He tied with Lady Antebellum to earn the most nominations, garnering seven. In addition, he received nominations for Best New Artist, and Single and Song of the Year for "A Little More Country Than That," at the 2010 Country Music Association Awards.

Billboard named Corbin the Top New Country Artist of 2010 and "Roll With It" the No. 6 Hot Country Song of the Year, while "A Little More Country Than That" was ranked No. 19. His album was also named Country Breakthrough Album of the Year by iTunes Rewind.

The Nashville Scene's 11th annual Country Music Critics' Poll named Corbin the Best New Act of 2010 and included his self-titled album in its Best Albums list at No. 19. "A Little More Country Than That" was ranked No. 11 on its Best Singles list.

The main event begins when country superstar Alan Jackson takes the stage. His "Thirty Miles West" album debuted at the top of Billboard's Top Country Albums sales chart, making it his 13th album to debut in the No. 1 spot on release week. The album also bows at No. 2 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums sales chart that includes all genres of music, bested only by chart-blazing Adele's "21." This is the best first-week sales for Jackson since the release of his platinum-selling "Good Time" in 2008. Released on June 5, Thirty Miles West is Jackson's first new release on ACR (Alan's Country Records)/ EMI Records Nashville; the album was produced by Keith Stegall.

Jackson is one of the most successful and respected singer-songwriters in music and his career spans more than 20 years. He is in the elite company of Paul McCartney and John Lennon among songwriters who've written more than 20 songs that they've recorded and taken to the top of the charts. Jackson is one of the 10 best-selling artists since the inception of SoundScan, ranking alongside the likes of Eminem and Metallica. He has sold nearly 60 million albums worldwide, topped the country singles charts 35 times, and scored more than 50 Top-10 hits. He has written or co-written 24 of his 35 No. 1 hit singles. Jackson is a 17-time American Country Music Award winner, a 16-time Country Music Association Award recipient, and a two-time Grammy-winning artist whose songwriting has earned him the prestigious ASCAP Founders Award and an induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame as a 2011 Songwriter/Artist inductee.

Jackson's new single, "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore," is at radio stations now and the video for the song is airing on CMT and Great American Country.
