CHICAGO, Ill. -- The 88th Regional Support Command returned to the 37th annual downtown Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade March 17 with one of their six Army Reserve bands, the 484th Army Reserve Band from Milwaukee, Wis.;

Brig. Gen. Alton G. Berry, Deputy Commanding General of the 88th RSC, participated in the parade with Sergeant Major of the Army, Sergeant Major of the Army Raymond F. Chandler, III, marching a portion of the parade route with Chandler and his wife, Mrs. Jeanne Chandler, as Co-Grand Marshall of the parade, and he also attended mass at the Old Saint Patrick's Church located in downtown Chicago.

They were greeted and interacted with Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny, Illinois Gov. Patrick Quinn, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Secretary of State Jesse White, and Catholic clergy participating in the parade.

Berry and Chandler enjoyed the parade in the record high temperatures reaching mid 70s, as the parade participants marched by the reviewing stand of nearly 300 Army representatives in the parade that kicks off Chicago's parade season.

"This is my first time attending (as Deputy Commanding General) in support of the 484th Army (Reserve) Band. Last year we (88th RSC) had all six of our Army Reserve bands performing here as one, but this here is a sight to see," said Berry.

Military representatives participating in the parade were Soldiers from the Chicago Recruiting Battalion, Chicago, Glenview, and Homewood, Illinois Recruiting Companies; 330th Medical Brigade, Fort Sheridan, Ill., U. S. Army future Soldiers; members of the 484th Army Band, Milwaukee, Wis.; Roosevelt High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Cadets; and Wisconsin Military Academy.
