FORT STEWART, Ga. - Ken Shamrock, renowned MMA fighter and dubbed "The World's Most Dangerous Man" visited Fort Stewart, Feb. 8-10.

Shamrock is a proven Mixed Martial Artist, who was the first UFC Super-fight Champion, Pride Fighting Championship organization superstar, International Fight League coach, The Ultimate Fighter Season Three coach, and the first King of Pancrease for the Japanese Pancrease fighting organization.

"I am so honored to be here at Fort Stewart as a guest of the Raider Brigade," Shamrock said. "All the Soldiers whom I met today are highly motivated and professional; I'm very impressed with this unit and division."

Along with touring the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, Third Infantry Division's footprint, he visited two local schools along with a youth wrestling competition.

At the apex of his visit, Shamrock taught a few lucky few Soldiers some new techniques.

"It was great to have Ken Shamrock, a true professional, come out and teach us a few things," said Sgt. Eddie Clark, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st HBCT. "He showed us various heel hooks and knee bars from different positions that are very effective and can be used in combat."

But in the eyes of Shamrock, the true professionals are the ones he taught.

"It amazes me that these heroes would want to spend time with me," said Shamrock. "I'm a paid fighter, I fight for money and to entertain. These Soldiers are the real deal they fight for freedom."

The high point of his visit was being the keynote speaker at the Raider Brigade Ball, Feb. 10 in Savannah.

"Honor and courage must be the official motto here because every Soldier displays it," Shamrock said at the ball. "I've been told I'm a pretty scary guy, but looking around this room I find many people who scare me and I wouldn't want to fight them. Not too much in life scares me, but to be on the receiving end of your weapons and zombies are my top two."

The Raider Brigade and Third Infantry Division definitely left an impression on the legendary MMA fighter, and after hearing 'Dog-Faced Soldier' every morning from the thunderous voices of the division he had one question.

"What's a Dog-Faced Soldier; I mean I'm pretty ugly if I joined the Army could I be one?"
