FORT BRAGG, N.C. - In the continuing push to stand up facilities that deliver the best quality of life for Soldiers and their Families, Army leadership opened two Womack Army Medical Center satellite clinics March 9 in Cumberland County.

The Fayetteville Medical Home, located at 2350 Bentridge Lane, and Hope Mills Medical Home, located at 3351 South Peak Drive, began receiving patients March 10.

"This is a memorable moment in our history," said Col. Brian Canfield, WAMC commander, at the 3 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony for the Hope Mills location. "It is a win-win situation for our community and our population at Fort Bragg."

The medical facilities are healthcare as it should be - easy to access, patient-centered, team-based and quality-focused, Canfield said.

They are just the beginning of other upcoming projects for Fort Bragg, including opening a site in Linden Oaks, where more than 1,000 Families currently live.

Teresa Sicinski, the wife of Col. Stephen Sicinksi, Fort Bragg Garrison commander, spoke of the convenience the medical homes will offer. No longer will customers have to add to their commute time to and from post or have to wait for available parking space at WAMC, she said.

They will also offer continuity of care for patients. For instance, since the clinics are staffed with civilian employees, patients will not have to worry about seeing new faces when their providers have deployed or sent to new duty stations.

"It's where your personal healthcare team knows you," said Maj. Gen. Carla Hawley-Bowland, commanding general North Regional Medical Command, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and chief of Army Medical Corps. "The name underscores our commitment to a new model of healthcare."

Jaime Stevens, the wife of an active-duty Soldier, works as a licensed practical nurse at the Hope Mills clinic.

"It's going to be so convenient for us," said Stevens, mother of two young daughters. "It's less time missed from school."

About 80 percent of Fort Bragg Families live off the installation, Sicinski said. Through the Army Family Covenant, Fort Bragg has delivered the medical care that Families most need.
