ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. - Approximately 20 sergeants major toured Anniston Army Depot May 18 as part of the U.S. Army Forces Command G4 Conference, which was held last week in Fort McPherson, Ga.

The tour was requested by Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey Marcon, who is stationed at Fort McPherson. He toured the depot several years ago, learning about the depot's maintenance mission to overhaul and reset combat vehicles and weapons. He believed his fellow non-commissioned officers could benefit from a visit as well.

"When we talk about reset back at the units, we know the equipment is going somewhere, but we never see what happens to it. Coming here, you get a better grasp of the process," said Marcon.

The group's tour included the combat vehicle assembly/disassembly building, the Powertrain Flexible Maintenance Facility and the Small Arms Repair Facility, giving the Soldiers the opportunity to see where their vehicles and weapons are rebuilt.

Sgt. Maj. Rozenia Carter has been in the Army for 30 years, but this was her first visit to a depot. She was impressed by the technology used throughout the shops.

"The way they disassemble the tanks, clean them, repair them and put them back together is just awesome," she said.

Carter works with the Army National Guard and was pleased to see some of the guard's Stryker vehicles being reset by depot workers.

"This was a good opportunity for Anniston to showcase some of our processes in getting equipment back out to the warfighters," said ANAD Sgt. Maj. Tony Butler. "Anytime we can get the highest ranking NCOs in the Army to go back and share our story, it's a great opportunity."

Marcon said the visit helped to build camaraderie, which is important since the group is spread throughout the country and rarely meet together.
