Toruń Unveils Angel Mural Trail with Community Bike Tour Finale

A new attraction has appeared in Toruń – angel murals. On July 25th, the finale of the "Łopot – Angel Murals in Districts" project will take place. The main goal of the project was to create five large-scale murals inspired by the Angel motif, created in close dialogue with the history, identity, and residents of selected Toruń districts: Mokre, Stawki, Podgórze, Bydgoskie Przedmieście, and Skarpa.

The project combines mural art, educational activities, and music with the participation of the Toruń Improvised Orchestra, whose members interpreted the aura of the places live during the creation of the murals, creating a unique sonic portrait of the city.

An integral part of the project was accompanying events: exhibitions, workshops, and lectures, held throughout the city. Artists presented their previous projects and shared their mural-making experiences, and residents had the opportunity to participate in workshops on visual art and painting techniques. These events took place at venues such as the Dwór Artusa Cultural Center, the Bydgoskie Przedmieście Cultural Hub, the Nano Project, the PERS club-café, and the Przedłogow Gallery, engaging the local community in a dialogue about art in public spaces.

The project will culminate in a final event scheduled for Friday, July 25th, which will take the form of an open bicycle tour of all the mural locations, culminating at Skarpa. The tour will not only be an opportunity to view the artists' work but also a way to actively explore the districts through art and local stories.

Event schedule:

  • Starting at 5:00 p.m., at Mickiewicza Street 75 (Mickiewicz Market) – mural by Andrzej Po Prostu and Magdalena Lipowiec

Next stops:

Poznańska Street – mural by Marta Aszyk,

63. Pułku Piechoty Street – mural by ROSE and Teetos,

  • Szosa Lubicka Street – mural by Arkadiusz Andrejkow.
  • Final on the Scarp (Olimpijska Street, 7:00 p.m.) – BiosmexBrocki mural

The entire route in the footsteps of the murals will be guided by:

  • Anna Lamers, who will present the socio-historical context of the districts,
  • Andrzej Po Prostu, who will talk about the ideas behind individual murals and the profiles of the artists.
