FORT KNOX, Ky. – U.S. Army Recruiting Command celebrated a significant milestone in the transformation of the Army recruiting enterprise with a welcome ceremony for the incoming Deputy Commanding General and Command Chief Warrant Officer on July 15, 2025.
The ceremony, hosted by Lt. Gen. Johnny Davis, USAREC commanding general, marked the arrival of Brig. Gen. Eric Van Den Bosch as the incoming USAREC DCG and Chief Warrant Officer 5 Chad Bowen, as the first USAREC CCWO.
“This is truly an exciting day for our Army’s accession enterprise,” Davis said. “These two leaders represent a wealth of experience and drive, and we’re absolutely thrilled to have them on the USAREC team.”
Van Den Bosch and Bowen are entrusted with critical responsibilities in the establishment of the new three-star recruiting headquarters. They will play a pivotal role in synchronization efforts for USAREC subordinate organizations, responsible for enlisted and officer recruiting, marketing operations, and innovative strategies to build on current recruiting momentum and drive future success.
“Our Army understands how critical our mission is - from enlisted and medical recruiting to cadet development, marketing, and innovation - every part of what we do is foundational to the strength and readiness of our force,” Davis said.
Van Den Bosch most recently served as the commanding general for the U.S. Army 7th Signal Command (Theater) and deputy commanding general for the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command. His institutional knowledge is crucial to the continued transformation and technical modernization of the recruiting workforce.
“I look forward to the opportunity to continue the momentum to stand up the three-star USAREC HQs,” Van Den Bosch said. “There are huge opportunities to innovate and transform our accessions enterprise to bring in the right talent at the right time for the Army to continue to be the best fighting force in the world.”
Bowen’s charter to the role marks a historic milestone for USAREC; as the command's first Command Chief Warrant Officer, he is a technical advisor and recruiting force multiplier, paving the way for the future of Army accessions. Bowen previously served as the ninth Chief Warrant Officer of the Adjutant General’s Corps and Adjutant General School where he was critical in the establishment of the 420T, Talent Acquisition Technician, a first-of-its kind warrant officer role in the recruiting footprint.
"Being selected as the first USAREC Command Chief Warrant Officer is an incredible honor and a humbling milestone,” Bowen said. “I carry this responsibility with pride, knowing it opens doors for those who will follow and strengthens the legacy of our Warrant Officer Corps and the recruiting enterprise."
Van Den Bosch and Bowen’s arrival is a key component of the stand-up operations for the USAREC three-star headquarters, which will be fully operational later this summer.
