WASHINGTON - U.S. Soldiers and Korean War veterans participated in a wreath laying ceremony Oct. 5 at the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D.C.
U.S. Forces Korea Commander Gen. Walter L. Sharp attended the ceremony.
He was joined by former Deputy Combined Forces Command Commander retired Republic of Korea Army Gen. Lee Hee-won, ROK Defense Attache Brig. Gen. Kim Kook-hwan, Association of the U.S. Army Korean Corporate Members President Dr. Rocky Park, Korean War Veterans Association Post 313 Commander Billy Scott and KWVA Post 142 Commander John Wilcox.
Members of the Korean War Veterans Association held the ceremony to honor the memory of those who fell in the Korean War.
South Korea celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the founding of its military and the ROK-U.S. Alliance last year. Currently approximately 28,500 U.S. service members and their families are stationed in Korea.
The wreath laying ceremony was conducted in conjunction with the 2009 Association of the United States Army Annual Meeting and Exposition Oct. 5 - 7 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
