MG Feltey enlisted in the New Jersey Army National Guard in 1988. He was commissioned as an ROTC distinguished military graduate from Rutgers University as a Lieutenant of Armor in 1993.

MG assumed command of the 1st Cavalry Division in August of 2024 while the division was deployed to Eastern Europe in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

His most recent assignments include; Deputy Commanding General of the III Armored Corps, Fort Cavazos, Texas; the 53rd Chief of Armor and Armor School Commandant, Fort Moore, Georgia; Director G3/5/7, Future and Concepts Center, Fort Eustis, Virginia; Chief of Staff 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado; Commander, 316th Cavalry Brigade, Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Benning, Georgia; and commander 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry, 4-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Other assignments include tours of duty with the Office of Security Cooperation, Iraq; Armored and Cavalry formations at Fort Hood, Texas and Europe; and with the NATO Allied Rapid Reaction Corps in the United Kingdom. MG Feltey has six deployments in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

MG Feltey’s education includes the Armor basic and advanced courses, the Scout Platoon Leaders’ course, the Cavalry Leaders’ course, the Naval College of Command and Staff, the Maritime School of Advanced Military Studies, and the Joint Advanced Warfighting School.He earned a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Navy War College, and a Master of Science in Campaign Planning and Strategic Studies from the Joint Forces Staff College of the National Defense University.

His awards and decorations include the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Award, Legion of Merit (7th Award), Bronze Star Medal (2nd Award), the combat action badge, and the parachutist badge. MG Feltey is a recipient of the Order of Saint George (Silver) and the Order of Saint Maurice (Legionnaire). Additionally, MG Feltey is a distinguished member of the 23rd Infantry Regiment.
