Parents at White Sands Missile Range had an opportunity to show their children what they do at work during a Bring Your Child to WSMR day April 9 offering them a day of discovery and excitement.
During the day children got a chance to observe Army Air employees land a helicopter at the JFK helipad, watch a weather balloon go up, climb on tanks and many other activities.
James Moya, an employee at Flight Safety Engineering, brought his children to the event.
“I think this is really great,” Moya said. “My kids are enjoying it. I love all the displays and we are having a great time.”
His son, Jessee Moya, a third-grade student, said his favorite event was getting to climb on the tanks that were on display at SVAD.
April Banks, a Navy employee, also brought her son to the event.
“This is very exciting; my son is really enjoying the day seeing all the neat things that we do here at WSMR.”
She said he really enjoyed the tanks and spending time at the Range Operations Building where he got to see a weather balloon go up.
Arturo Esparza, a WSMR employee, who brought his little sister, Arabella Lozoya, to the event, said the day was very eventful with a lot of activities for the children.
“I think her favorite was the tanks and the helicopter.”
Arabella, a third-grade student, said her favorite part was getting to climb on the tanks.
