First round of local election results are in
The results from the first round of presidential elections of the City of Toruń, the candidate Pawel Gulewski – received the largest vote – 38.28%. The incumbent and residing President Toruń Michał Zaleski, resulted in 26.41% of the votes. These two candidates will meet again in the second election round on April 21. To encourage maximum participation, public transportation in Toruń will be free of charge for the day.
Currently there are 141,696 Torun citizens eligible to vote. From this first round of voting, a total of 69,741 valid ballots were awarded, resulting in a turnout of 49.22% (the average turnout in the country is about 52%).

Argentine Ambassador makes appearance in Toruń
Toruń became the capital of the Argentine Tango last weekend as the city hosted the International Cup of Poland and the El Cielo Tango Festival. Alicia Irene Falkowski, Argentina’s Ambassador, met with Toruń’s President Michał Zaleski to discuss tourism and business opportunities while touring the beautiful city.
Together they visited the Old Town Hall, where there is a portrait of Nicolaus Copernicus and the Gallery of Polish Painting. There was also time for a walk through the streets of the Old Town Complex and a photo under the monument to Mikołaj Kopernik.
JE Alicia Irene Falkowski has been the Ambassador of Argentina to the Republic of Poland since November 2023. Previously, in 1997 – 1998, she was the head of the consular section of the Embassy in Warsaw.
