WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. (July 21, 2022) The White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), Garrison, and White Sands Test Center Command teams spoke about upcoming leadership and infrastructure development on post during a WSMR Town Hall meeting on July 21 at the Post Theater.

WSMR Commander Brig. Gen. Eric Little started off by saying that the intent of developing future leadership is to prepare them for change and growth with an emphasis on life balance and building the WSMR community.

Little also addressed the importance of professionalism, dignity and respect when it comes to conducting daily tasks with fellow teammates and to speak up when these values are not modeled in daily interactions.

White Sands Test Center Commander Col. Shawanta Smart, thanked the WSMR community for their participation in the Command Climate Survey of which 50% of the post’s employees submitted responses to. “Because of your responses, leadership can take action on what is important to you on post,” said Smart. In alignment with Little, Smart will be focusing on two top priorities moving forward with the survey information gathered; addressing Interactive Customer Evaluation (ICE) reports and creating opportunities to relieve stress for the workforce.

WSMR Garrison Commander Col. David Mitchell, informed attendees of the infrastructure improvements that will be happening soon on post.

These WSMR infrastructure changes include the following:

Frontier Club – now has limited indoor seating. The roof and flooring will be completely replaced. The bar area will also be remodeled.

Post Exchange – is welcoming Hunts Pizza and will have a remodeled lay out.

New Coffee Shop – will be coming soon, location to be announced.

IHG Hotel – will be remodeled in phases and will have an alternate check in and check out site until the renovations are complete.

Owen Road will be under construction to address drainage issues and school is back in session on post, it is advised that drivers take extra caution while commuting through the installation and to watch their speeds.

Little ended with an announcement for the upcoming Brew Fest tomorrow evening and held an open discussion with the attendees addressing their questions.
