<h4>Carolina Helping Heroes</h4>

<p>Carolina Helping Heroes is a way to connect the families of deployed or seriously injured Soldiers with volunteers from service, community and faith-based organizations. Volunteers offer to provide the kind of help that neighbors provide for each other, like running an errand or mowing the lawn. Community members sign up to offer a service while members of the Armed Forces and their Families request assistance then Carolina Helping Heroes will connect them. <a

<h4>American Red Cross</h4>

<h4>USO of North Carolina</h4>

<h4>Community Area Resource Team (CART)</h4>

<p>The Community Area Resource Team (CART) is a voluntary Military cooperative partnership organized to provide multi-service networking for training and assistance to ensure total force family readiness for active-duty personnel, as well as veterans and their families. <a href="http://www.wakegov.com/veterans/cart/default.htm">www.wakegov.com</a></p>

<h4>OPERATION Kids-on-Guard</h4>

<p>OPERATION KIDS-on-GUARD is a North Carolina National Guard program which provides children of deployed National Guard Soldiers and Airmen with opportunities for education of military life, recreation with other children of deployed Soldiers and Airmen, as well as working to improve their emotional and physical well-being in adjusting to a parent's deployment. <a href="http://www.nc.ngb.army.mil/index.php/fp/youth-programs-2/kids-on-guard">www.nc.ngb.army.mil</a></p>

<h4>N.C. Chapter of Operation Homefront</h4>

<p>Provided emergency assistance and morale to our troops, to the families they leave behind and to wounded warriors when they return home. With 4,500 volunteers in 30 chapters nationwide, they have provided critical assistance to more than 45,000 military families. The annual backpack campaign "Stuff the Bus" encourages the public to donate school supplies to be distributed to school children of enlisted Military Families and other communities and schools. <a href="http://www.operationhomefront.net/nc/">www.operationhomefront.net</a></p>

<h4>Military Spouse Residency Relief Act</h4>

<p>On November 11, 2009, the President signed into law the Military Spouse Residency Relief Act. This Act, among other things, provides that when a service member leaves his or her home state in accord with military or naval orders, the service member's spouse may retain residency in his or her home state for voting and tax purposes, after relocating from that state to accompany the service member. In the State of North Carolina an exemption from North Carolina withholding tax may be claimed if an employees spouse is a member of the U.S. Armed Services and their state of legal residence is not North Carolina.
