The Detroit Arsenal closed out the 2021 Combined Federal Campaign on a high note with more than $154,000 in pledges. Amid this COVID-19 pandemic environment, the workforce surpassed last year’s contributions.

Each federal organization at the Arsenal supplied volunteer CFC Key Workers, who worked tirelessly to ensure all employees were educated as to the purpose of the CFC and what options they had to donate if they chose to. For 60 years, the CFC has promoted and supported philanthropy through payroll deduction, one time donations and now federal employees can pledge volunteer hours.

This year was the first year for a Virtual Kickoff Rally that was held Oct. 25. The event launched the start of the CFC season at the Arsenal and started with a video message from the TACOM Senior Commander, Maj. Gen. Darren Werner. He spoke about the importance of the CFC and how your donations support more than 20,000 non-profit charities worldwide.

“Individually, our support of CFC makes a positive impact on the lives of those around us,” said Werner. “As a team, the impact we are able to make is enormous.”

Lindsay Sammut, Executive Director of the Detroit Federal Executive Board and Kate Melcher, Executive Director of Fisher House spoke about the CFC and how those funds support great local, national and international causes.

2021 was also the first year for a Virtual charity fair. Multiple federal agencies came together to help moderate and broadcast the charity fair to their organizations. During the course of two days, 25 charities participated in the TEAMS broadcast to bring awareness to their causes. Each charity had 30 minutes to speak and answer questions.

Following the theme of “You Can Be the Face of Change’, the Detroit Arsenal led the Southeast Michigan CFC campaign zone.   Our donors gave an average gift of $714. Those donations support more than 20,000 non-profit charities worldwide.
