Casa Toscana Army Lodging at US Army Garrison Italy, Darby Military Community was recently recognized Camp Darby’s Casa Toscana Army Lodge as the best small lodging operation of the year. Casa Toscana proved to be a profitable entity in fiscal year 2020 despite Camp Darby’s downsizing, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the stop movement order, said Dianne Pascoe, the hotel’s manager. Casa Toscana served as a place for incoming personnel during COVID-19-required “restriction of movement.”

LIVORNO, Italy- The Army recently recognized Camp Darby’s Casa Toscana Army Lodge as the best small lodging operation of the year.

Casa Toscana proved to be a profitable entity in fiscal year 2020 despite Camp Darby’s downsizing, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the stop movement order, said Dianne Pascoe, the hotel’s manager. Casa Toscana served as a place for incoming personnel during COVID-19-required “restriction of movement.”

“I am so proud of our small facility,” Pascoe said.

Installation Management Command’s annual Army’s annual Army Lodging Recognition Program highlights staff performance and facilities. It’s aimed to highlight quality performance and to incentivize the improvement of quality facilities, furnishings and services.

“I am very proud of our Casa Toscana staff who work tirelessly to ensure this remains a top notch facility in the heart of Tuscany competing with local hotels and BnBs for our U.S. military patronage,” said Robert Chartier, Camp Darby's Deputy Garrison Manager.

During COVID-19, Casa Toscana operations were adapted to support operations, Pascoe said.

“The seven team members at the Casa Toscana are the key to our success and profitability,” Pascoe said. “This is accomplishment is the result of the hard work of the previous Casa manager, Rosemary Musto.”

The Camp Darby Army Lodge, which competed against small facility lodges throughout the Army, will receive a cash award of $10,000 for use towards lodging operation improvements.

“We have been having internet connectivity difficulties, and this makes the life of newcomers hard,” Pascoe said. “The award will be used to strengthen the internet line and improve our customer’s satisfaction.”
