BAUMHOLDER Germany - The 1st Armored Division's 'Old Ironsides' museum closed its doors officially July 13 to prepare its move to Fort Bliss, Texas.
The Old Ironsides museum was established in 1963 in Fort Hood, Texas, where it began a historic link for all 1st Armored Division Soldiers. The museum has 46 years of established history of the division.
Old Ironsides museum contains about 2,900 artifacts, uniforms, accoutrements, insignia, artwork, and vehicles from different time periods in the division's history. The facility also contains several thousand archives of original documents and photographs relating to the division.
