Maj. General Kilgo, commander of the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, opens an in-person SHARP training session in 2019.
ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. – The training year is nearing the halfway point and as such it is important for all military and civilian employees to check-in on their mandatory annual training progress.
The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command has specific mandatory training goals. By the end of the second quarter, 60% of all mandatory training should be completed. By the end of the third quarter, 90% of all mandatory training should be completed, allowing there to be a 100% mandatory training completion rate by all military and civilian personnel by the end of the fourth quarter.
While it may be easy to see mandatory training as just another check-in-the-box, the Army sees annual mandatory training as much more. In fact, Army Regulation 350-1 states that “Training and leader development are what the Army does every day. Training builds confidence and competence, while proving essential skills and knowledge, resulting in unit readiness.” All mandatory training courses that are required for each position can be located on the Mandatory Training Tab in the Total Employee Development profile. Any questions about mandatory training or TED can be directed to the designated training coordinator within each organization. The TED site is located at https://ted.csd.disa.mil/ted/TED_Main.cfm.
Training is also important to ensure a safe and efficient workplace by granting employees the knowledge of how to behave appropriately in the workplace and avoid disrupting consequences.
“Individuals who take the time to properly review mandatory training content receive important regulatory and policy information that impacts every aspect of their work responsibilities," said Chad Kaplan, a G1 Talent Management Division Human Resources Specialist.
In an effort to promote continuous learning, acquisition employees who complete all mandatory training each fiscal year can earn up to ten continuous learning points toward their mandatory requirement of 80 CLPs every two years. To learn more about mandatory training, visit the mandatory training tab on the CECOM G1 Talent Management page located at https://cecom.aep.army.mil/cecom/home/G1/SitePages/Talent%20Management.aspx.
