CAMP HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea – In celebration of National Volunteer Week, U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys Commander Col. Michael F. Tremblay recognized Volunteer of the Year awardees during the Garrison Facebook Live update, May 8.

“Traditionally, before the coronavirus, this was a weeklong recognition with various events and activities planned throughout the week,” said Lindsay Ejnik Hermann, the Army Volunteer Corps coordinator and Army Family Action Plan program manager. “However, even though we are doing things a little different this year, we are not compromising the importance of our volunteer’s selfless service and commitment.”

Humphreys has more than 1800 registered active volunteers, comprised of active duty members, retirees, family members, and local civilians serving more than 150 organizations on the installation. They contributed more than 88,000 hours and served approximately $2.2 million in volunteer time and service last year.

The winners were categorized in six units: active duty, retirees, civilians, family members, youth and Korean nationals.

Tremblay gave a special shout out, virtually, to all VOY awardees, following an award presentation to the overall winner, Cassi M. Friday.

“Thank you to all our volunteers for all the hard work, effort, support and the great commitment you all have done to make our community a success,” Tremblay said.

Friday was selected for her contributions to the volunteer service, and the impact she made in the organization and the community. She is the network lead for Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Professional Network.

“She rocks,” Tremblay said. “For all the fantastic work she has done for this community… all the partnership she has going, has truly, positively, impacted our community. Thank you for your enthusiasm and the commitment you have for our military spouses and the community.”
